The reference library

Useful tools · guide 2 of 3

Settle a rules question at the table in seconds, without leafing through a pile of books. And when you find what you need, pull it straight into your game.

Open the reference library

On your campaign's Build page, press Reference.

The Reference tile on the Build page

Search and narrow

Pick a tab: monsters, spells, magic items, equipment, species, classes or backgrounds. Search by name or text, and narrow it with the drop-downs beside it, like challenge rating and creature type for monsters, or level, school and class for spells. Press Apply, or Clear to start again.

Monsters, searched and narrowed by creature type

Press any entry, and its full card opens in the quick reference panel, while your list stays where it is.

Add to your game

Some entries can go straight into your game. On a monster, open Add to combat, choose one of your fights or a new one, set how many, and press Add. A pack of wolves, in one press.

On a spell, open Add to a spellbook, choose a character or an NPC, and press Add.

Magic items and equipment have their own Add button, which puts them in your campaign's items, ready to hand out.

Species, classes and backgrounds are there to read, and they're what the guided character creator uses.

The Toolbox

Then there's the Toolbox tab, for the rules around a fight: travel pace, traps, poison, environmental effects like extreme cold, curses and magical contagions, and fear and mental stress. They're there to read, so the answer is never far away.

Nothing you browse here changes your campaign until you choose to add it.
