Soundscapes
Useful tools · guide 3 of 3
The right music turns a scene from words on a page into somewhere your players can feel. Soundscapes play ambience that follows the story, so you never have to stop the game to fiddle with a playlist.
The soundscape bar
The soundscape bar sits at the top left of every Game Master screen. Press play to start the track, and pause to stop it. On a paid plan, you also get previous and next, a volume slider, and loop, which goes from off, to this track, to all tracks.
What plays
What plays follows what's happening at the table. A live fight comes first, then a puzzle, then an encounter, and then the party's current place.
On the Run screen, with a paid plan, the music changes by itself as the scene moves on, with a gentle crossfade.
The free plan plays a single default track, with play and pause.
Choose the music yourself
To choose the music yourself, open a place, an encounter, a puzzle or a fight, and find Scene soundscapes. Press Add soundscape, pick a track, and add up to three.
They play in order, and you can move them up or down, or remove one.
Let Critsmith choose
Haven't picked any? Critsmith chooses one for you, matched to the place, the dungeon's theme, or the fight's boss, and the box tells you what's playing automatically.
The right mood, at the right moment, without lifting a finger.
