Moving the party

Running a session · guide 2 of 7

Players love to wander off the map. When they do, Critsmith moves the party in a few presses, and shows you everything waiting for them at the new place.

Most of the time you won't need this, because running a scene moves the party for you. This is for when they go somewhere you didn't plan.

See where the party is

On the Run screen, the green banner in the Current scene box shows where the party is. Right now, they're in Havenreach.

Move them

To move them, press change in the banner. Pick the new place from the list, and press Set.

Moving the party stops the scene that's running, because the party has left it. The screen tells you which scene stopped, so nothing changes without you knowing. And if no session is running, Critsmith starts one for you.

See what's at the new place

The banner now shows the new place, and what's there. Shops here lists the shops at this location.

Press an NPC's name for their quick card, with their talking points and notes. It's all to hand, without leaving the Run screen.

What your players see

Your players see the change too. Their Shop tab now shows the shops here, so they can buy and sell, if your settings allow it. Anything they could buy back at the last place goes back on the shelf at its usual price. And on a paid plan, the soundscape changes to suit the new place.

Run a scene when you're ready

If you've set scenes at this place, open Scenes here, and each one has a Run button. Critsmith never runs one for you, so you decide when the story picks up again.

When the party is between places

If the party is between places, choose Nowhere set. Their Shop tab stays empty until you move them somewhere.
