Acts and the run sheet

Building your story · guide 1 of 5

Your campaign is a run sheet of acts, and each act holds its scenes in the order you mean to play them. Here's how to shape it.

Open the run sheet

On your campaign's Build page, press Create campaign.

Create campaign, with its first act and scenes

Add an act

Add act starts a new chapter of your story. Give it a name, like Into the Sewers, and press Next.

New act, with its name typed in

Critsmith makes the act and takes you straight into the scene wizard for its first scene, because an act always starts with a scene. If you cancel that scene, the new act goes with it.

What happens when you press Next

Rename and reorder

To rename an act, type over its name and press Save.

The arrows move an act up or down, and the arrows on a scene move it up or down within its act. The Run screen's Next button follows this order, so keeping it tidy now saves you hunting for the right scene at the table.

Run a scene

Press Run on a finished scene to make it the live one, ready on the Run screen.

The first scene, now live

Unfinished scenes

A scene you leave half-made stays in its act, marked Unfinished. Press its name to carry on where you left off, or press its cross to throw it away. Anything you made along the way is kept.

A new act with an unfinished scene

Delete a scene or an act

To delete a finished scene, press its cross. To delete an act and every scene in it, press Delete. Both ask you first, because neither can be undone.

Critsmith asks before deleting

Lay out your story, and run it in order.
